Piano Recital

Mary had her summer recital.  This year we played 2 duets together.  We had so much fun!  I am so proud of my girl.  She loves to perform for a group of people and does so well!

Our Back Yard

We moved some things around in our back yard this year.  We moved our cabana frame over to this side and planted Morning Glory vines to grow up it, to make a natural canopy covered with blue flowers.  We have a big black berry vine on the other side of the fence loaded with fruit this year.

Rich planted 3 tomato plants, one cherry, one yellow pear and one slicing tomato, in the area we had our cabana.  We also have a lemon tree in a pot on the right.
We have our avocado trees on the left.
Mack in the back yard.  To him our back yard is like a huge football field. He is such a little guy.  He sure loves to run the length of the yard and play with us.  So cute!  We have a row of sunflowers coming up along the fence.
Flowers and veggies around the back patio.  In the very front is my swiss chard.
These are all my baby roses, so pretty and vibrant.  Rich got me the orange one when we were dating.  This will mark it's 15th year and it is still going strong.

Remembering our Loved Ones

We go out on Memorial Day each year put flowers on the graves of our family.  We place this scripture: "For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord." 1 Thessalonians 4: 16 & 17, on each grave along with some garden flowers.  Mary gets to read the scripture and I arrange the flowers in the vase.

Fishing on the River

It was just too perfect of a day to pass up.  We are so blessed to have the beautiful Rouge River just 10 minutes away.  Rich and Mary went out to dig up some worms and they got some great ones!

I went inside and whipped up some tuna fish sandwiches with bread I had made yesterday.

I love this shot of Mary looking at the river.  I would love to paint this scene.
Rich and Mary had some fun casting but did not get any bites.

We found some fishing holes we would like to go back to and had fun exploring the river banks.  Such a lovely day and wonderful family time!

Mother's Day Weekend

I had a lovely Mother's Day weekend.  Rich bought me these lovely flowers and some lemon cake.
My girl is getting so big.
Rich's mom and I celebrated our day at Olive Garden.  This was our dessert, a chocolate lasagna!
Mary made me this cute memo pad

A sachet with scented soap for my chest of drawers.
My wonderful cards
I loved Mary's creative card.  You pull on the heart and...
...out comes a message.

Plates for Birdies and Butterflies

I bought these lovelies today at our family day at the thrift store. Mary always loves to go. I had a hard time just sticking with these plates. I am going to use them in my garden for dried bread for the birds and fruit to attract butterflies in the summer. So many beautiful plates to choose from and so cheap. I think I would like a whole set of unmatched plates for us to eat on, each one is special and says something unique. Rich got more electronic parts from hair dryers, curling irons and cameras for his project to make a convection smoker for meat and cheese. We also got some wonderful music books. I got a great find of Mary's next two levels of piano books, that would of cost us $40 or more for 5 bucks! I heart emoticon the thrift store plus the money stays in the local economy and not overseas.

Lady Bug Release

Mary had fun releasing some lady bugs into our garden.  We bought them at the garden center at our local Fred Meyer's store.  She got to keep them over night to watch them and then we set them free the next morning.  She was so impressed by finding one that had just one spot.  She made an entry in her field journal about it and drew this wonderful picture of it.  Mary says she would like to be an illustrator when she grows up.  So we will see what happens with that.

Curls

This post is a Mama memory post.  Mary was doing her school work the other night and I was looking at her curls that form around her head when I put her hair up in a bun.  So I took a few snap shots for my memory when she is grown and on her own.
