Birthday Girl

My Dear Mary Girl,

What a joy you are to Daddy and I! You are getting to be such a big girl now but you will always be our baby girl. Your favorite phrases at this age are "Whatcha doin' ?" and "What happened?" and "I'll help you!" You really are such a little helper. You love to help set the table and make the beds and sweep. You want to wash the dishes and mop the kitchen floor but you are just not big enough to do that yet. Your favorite activities are painting, dancing and riding your bike. You love to dream of the future and will say many times, "Maybe someday I will...." You love animals, you have told me your favorite is dogs and horses. You love petting the neighbors kitty and watching our angel fish too. You love to pick flowers and run bare foot in the grass. In fact you just love to go bare foot. I couldn't keep shoes on you until you were 14 months old. You love people and the social graces of please and thank you come easily for you. You love to give kisses and tell us that you love us, with out being asked or prompted. You have such a tender heart and feel so deeply about things. You love for me to play the piano and your little fingers want to play songs so badly. You love tickling the ivories and making up your own little melodies. The most wonderful thing is you love to go to church and if I ask you if you love Jesus, you always say, "Yes!" without hesitation. The picture above is my most favorite one of you right now. It just captures so much of who you are at this age! I look forward to the many more birthdays that we will be celebrating with you and see you grow into the lovely woman that God has intended you to be!

Love,
Momma

Mary's Birthday Party

Our little Mary girl is turning 4 on Thursday! It is so hard to believe four years have passed since her wonderful arrival! We had a party for her on Saturday. We all had so much fun and shared it with friends. Here is a video of her day:

The Dancer

I had some fun the other day. It was a beautiful warm afternoon and Mary wanted to go out into the back yard. She had on her ballerina tutu and feather boa, so I decided to take some pictures. I'm so glad I did. Here are some of the shots I took. There are several sets of each shot because I had fun with my photo program using the oil paint, water color, posterize, solarize and dot effects on the different shots. Here is a slide show I put together:

Petting Zoo and Pony Rides

We went to a place called The Farm on Saturday. It has a lot fun things to do for kids, like hay rides, corn mazes, face painting and other things. We took Mary to the petting zoo and pony rides. Mary loves the ponies so much. She rode three of the ponies and wanted to go for more. I think she would of rode them all day if we let her. She had so much fun and we had so much fun watching her. Mary loves animals. She remembers the ponies names and asked when she went to bed that night if they were sleeping too. She told me that she loves ponies and dogs:) Here is a slide show I made of all the pictures we took.

A Princess Dress

Last week I finally got to sit down and make Mary her princess dress. I had bought the materials to make it a while back but with all the yard work I didn't have time. Now that things have slowed way down in the yard, I had the time. She had seen a princess dress in a costume catalog that I was looking at and wanted one but they were $35. I was pretty sure I could make one much cheaper. So I decided to sew her one. We went to a second hand store and I found an adult size bride's maid dress in good condition for $10 and then I bought remnant fabric and some ribbon for around $4. I used the skirt from the bride's maid dress and I sewed a bodice to attach the skirt too. Then I sewed the ribbon at the waist. Mary was thrilled with it. She had so much fun watching me make it. I have made a slide show of the process and her dancing in it. I hope it captures the magic she felt dancing and imagining being a princess.

My dear Mary as you grow older I hope you will always know that you are Mom and Dad's precious little princess and a daughter of the King!

Birthday Celebrations

On Sunday we took Rich's folks out to Olive Garden. We were celebrating their birthdays. Dad will be 86 and Mom will be 82. They will be gone on their actual birthdays on a trip to Oklahoma, so we celebrated early. We snapped a few pics while we were waiting for our table.

Grandma is stealing some sugar from Mary:)

We had the yummiest peach mango tea.

Salad and bread sticks

Eggplant Parmigiana

Dad enjoying his birthday dinner!

At church before we took Rich's folks out, I helped out in the 4 year old Sunday School class. I love 4 years old. Such an adorable age. They prayed over their little snack. We had each little kid pray. One prayed that her sister would behave herself, one thanked the Lord for the food and then thanked the Lord for this church that we love so much, and the last little guy asked God for a toy fire truck, a hot wheels car and a toy police car. I think he got God mixed up with Santa Clause! Ha! So cute! This class and Mary's class have been working on memorizing a Bible verse each month. I have included a video of Mary saying hers.

Helping Grandma

On Sundays we go see Rich's folks after church. It is so nice to have them close by. Mary loves spending time with Grandma. Last Sunday she put the cherries on the ice cream we had for dessert. She is such a good little helper now. Last night she wanted to help set the table and she did such a good job. She also likes helping me make the beds in the morning. What a blessing she is!
